Azerite Starter Guide
Welcome to the Azerite Starter Guide! This walkthrough will help you progress step by step until you are ready for endgame content.
Part 1 - Starting Out
Upon logging in, instantly vote and claim progression task to get your free T3 mage set with an AOE weapon as well as lamps to get Prayer to 99. After this, click the prayer skill in the skills tab and right-click the altar to change to Curses.
Complete up to Zone 5 for a full melee set. Make sure to claim progressions after each zone as these give smash mixes which will greatly increase your damage and speed of completion. Progression reward for zone 5 also rewards a KH scroll which grants an extra KH key per completed raid for 30 minutes and is helpful for the next part.
Make sure to attend all global bosses that you can as these are overpowered for drops. I’d recommend now to go straight to KH1 raids to complete some achievements for easy rewards and hopefully spoon an Oathkeeper Keyblade, which is a T6 AOE mage weapon.
Before you go in, make sure to talk to the quest NPC and take the quest – this will reward 45 extra keys for 50 raids. Complete 50 raids, claim quest rewards and all progression tasks. From here if you’ve not managed to pull the Oathkeeper it’s mostly just grinding until you get one, as it’s not worth progressing without one.
As of a recent update, there is now a dry streak counter which means you are guaranteed to get this drop by 2450 keys opened!
Life after the Oathkeeper Grind
Now we want to work on some small drop rate armor, so complete the following requirements:
- 10 easy smash raids (this is insanely simple and will take you about 30s in a solo for each raid)
- Complete 1 hard slayer task – if you have been a good student you should have been going to majority of global bosses and now have some instance tokens banked. Click the slayer task icon in skills tab and take a hard cartoon network task. You may need your mystic AOE staff for this part but click your instance tokens and create an instance for your slayer task, you will only need 5 mins.
After this you have unlocked the requirements for Kronk which drops T4 mage gear which also gives 7% DR per piece, so grind this out. Be aware all pieces are needed later on for upgrades.
Part 2 - Progression
After obtaining full Stardust set it’s time to head back to zones and complete Zone 6 for the Extreme Collections Icon reward. We will start to upgrade this later. Complete up to Zone 8, also keep a note of how many global tokens you have from attending bosses as with 300 you can buy the Ring of Death which gives more stats.
Completion of zone 8 will reward 5 owner attachments and you will do the following if you don’t already have these upgrades:
- Upgrade Ring of Death (T5) to Ring of Chaos (T6) – materials needed: Ring of Death, 1 Owner Attachment, 1b ticket
- Upgrade Ring of Chaos (T6) to Azerite Ring (T7) – materials needed: Ring of Chaos, 1 Azerite Attachment (can be made from owner attach and 1b) and 2b tickets
Save the remaining 3 attachments for upgrades detailed below.
Now I recommend heading to Hard Smash Raids – a team will be required but there is usually plenty of people running this. The main drops you are looking for here are:
- Faith pieces – needed to create T6 Serenity armor which gives good stats and decent drop rate
- Bowser Shell – can be used to create Azerite Ownercape (T6) and that can be used to create the Azerite Cape (T7)
Part 3 - End of Starter Guide
Once you feel you have gotten enough upgrades from smash raids, feel free to follow your own path, remaining upgrades are detailed below, or prepare to start the KH2 grind to upgrade your Oathkeeper into the Arcane Staff (T8 AOE Mage Weapon). To do this you will need to get an Oblivion Blade as a reward from KH2 raids which is a big grind. This raid can be duoed and I highly recommend doing so for your own sanity.
As part of a recent update, there is now a dry streak counter which means you will be guaranteed the drop by 1225 raid loot rolls.
Additional upgrades to gear:
- Corrupted Amulet (T6) – passively earned by AFKing overnight and gives 350k all stats. 500k AFK crystals are needed to purchase.
- Shield of Pity (T5) – obtainable from the raids token store for 500 raids tokens, can be upgraded further with more raids tokens.
- Azerite Collector (T7) – created in the upgrade tree by upgrading your extreme collector into ultimate collector and then finally azerite collector.
- Tommy Gun (T7) – fairly easy strong range weapon to create for an ironman using the upgrade interface and will be needed for KH2 later on as 2 styles are required.
If you have acquired all the above upgrades it’s time to grind the prison that KH2 is and then you can move freely onto end game after creating your Arcane Staff.
Good luck on your Azerite journey! ⚔️
